2012 Iacon Contest entry_ Skyline Battle

Ecco la mia entry per il Contest della IACON 2012 a Lucca! [link]
Due sketchini veloci su fogli separati per ciascuno sfidante e poi via! A divertirmi a dipingere su Photoshop (come al solito sempre ad aggiungere, in stile acrilico).

La scelta dei personaggi: Le due promesse per le rispettive squadre, i due giovani to-be leader, molto simili in vita e in morte. E soprattutto esteticamente perfetti per una sky battle. (NB: ho messo Starscream perché c'era Prowl, inizialmente volevo mettere Blitzwing, anche per evitare accuse di extreme fangirlism, ma alla fine l'estetica ha prevalso sul buonsenso).


Lo sfondo, molto speed paint, è ispirato ai fumetti di Spiderman, ai miei ricordi dell'America e vorrebbe rappresentare una città futuristica-tipo, non apocalittica ma semplicemente una continuazione dello sviluppo della civiltà occidentale corrente, sempre più tesa verso l'alto con grattacieli e guglie di cristallo (Londra, Renzo Piano, la Nuova Milano tutta storta , Ginger e Fred di Praga etc etc...)


Lo stile: Non mi ritengo un granché, ma mi piace l'idea che accanto a stupendi disegni in stile tradizionale, mecha, tipicamente Transformers, venga esposto anche il mio paciughino Ho scelto i personaggi dell'Animated perché con le loro forme biologiche si prestano molto al mio tratto morbido e tendenzialmente allergico alle linee dritte

ENGLISH: Done for the I.A.C.O.N. 2012 Drawing Contest for Lucca Comics & GAmes

Two quick sketches on separated sheets and then right away on Photoshop to have a lot of fun, speed painting as usual, in a very "acrilyc-like" way.

Characters choice: the two best hopes for the Bots and the Cons respectively, the two young wannabe/to be leaders, very similar in life and death. And above all aesthetically perfect for a sky battle (Note: I put SS because I had drawn Prowl; in fact I firstly wanted to put Blitzwing, also because I wanted to avoid accusations of "extreme fangirlism", but aesthetics eventually defeated common sense).

Background: very speed paint, inspired by SpiderMan comics, my memories of the USA and was intended to represent an ideal futuristic city, not apocalyptic, just a plain continuation of the development of the current Western civilization, increasingly outstretching towards the sky with its crystal skyscrapers and spires (London, Renzo Piano, the new slanting Milan, Ginger and Fred in Prague, etc etc…)

The Style: I don't consider myself that good, but I really like the idea of having my little mess displayed along with wonderful pieces drawn in traditional, typically TF- mecha style. I chose the Animated guys because with their biological frames they lend themselves to my style,soft and basically allergic to straight lines
